Green industry: The near future job opportunities in Norway are in the rapidly developing Green Industry. Green industry is nothing new in Norway, which has long traditions with hydropower, forestry and wood building, and solar energy. And as pr 2022, Norway is the country with the most electric cars pr capita in the world. ​ New battery factories, factories for carbon capture and production of offshore wind turbines are under development. 

The Norwegian government, in its roadmap THE GREEN INDUSTRIAL INITIATIVE, emphasizes the developement in these sectors:  Offshore wind, Battery, Hydrogen, Carbone Capture and Storage, Maritime Sector, Forestry, Power systems and smart charging of vehicles, and sustainable buildings. ​

Construction and civil works: Skilled/professional Electricians; flooring workers; plumbers; drivers of construction engines and cranes; service technicians electronics; welders / sheet metal workers. Engineers (HVAC in construction, and otherwise in civil works). ​
Note that there has been a downturn in the Construction sector since 2022, with increasing unemployment and a lower demand for workers is expected during 2024. ​

 

NB! Please note that many of these professions and jobs require a good knowledge of the Norwegian language, especially those which require contact and interaction with patients, children and pupils, customers, clients or passengers.​

Population:  5,5 million (5 562 363 by Q1 2024)

The unemployment rate is  low (2,4 % in May 2024) but it is expected to increase throughout the year. High price increase, especially because of increased prices of energy and food, inflation, increased policy rate and the war in Ukraine are all factors that contribute to the increase in unemployment.

But at the same time, the demand for workers is quite high, and in many sectors. See above. 

Employment rate: 69.6 % of the population (15-74 yrs) is in employment (May 2024).
