We are a Chinese/Indonesian all-you-can-eat world cuisine restaurant with takeout, and we are looking for a passionate Independent Cook I to join our kitchen team.
Are you a cook at your best in the kitchen? You will take responsibility for preparing and plating dishes and portions. You will work under the guidance of our head chef or owner but are also able to keep the kitchen running independently. You will collaborate with your fellow cook and supervise kitchen assistants when needed.
You will follow set instructions regarding ingredients, recipes, work methods, and presentation standards. Weekend work is required, and you must be available during the day and evening. Working hours and schedules are flexible.
Your Responsibilities:
- Select, prepare (wash, cut, mix, etc.), and cook dishes according to recipes.
- Perform intermediate checks (doneness, taste, color, etc.) and adjust when necessary.
- Ensure consistent quality and hygiene.
- Coordinate and supervise (assistant) chefs and kitchen staff.
- Keep track of inventory, order ingredients, and check deliveries.
- Clean the work environment, kitchen equipment, and workstations daily.
- Report technical issues and resolve simple malfunctions.
- Provide input regarding the composition and changes of menus, dishes, and methods.
Requirements:
- You take initiative independently and act in a solution-oriented way.
- You work with conviction and are willing to take responsibility.
- MBO-3 (vocational) level of thinking and working.
- Demonstrable knowledge of basic cooking techniques.
