National Oilwell Varco Inc. is a global, expanding and innovative company. We are about to establish an Engineering office in Lisbon and are therefore seeking to appoint talented engineers within the disciplines of Mechanical, Electrical & Instrumentation, Hydraulics, Structural Calculation and Software & Automation. Our aim is that NOV Portugal, which is a subsidiary of National Oilwell Varco Norway, shall have 70-80 skilled engineers before January 2014. The workplace will be at our office in Lisbon, working with our divisions in Norway.

Mechanical/Structural Calculation Engineers

National Oilwell Varco is seeking Mechanical/Structural Calculation Engineers.
Applicants should be graduate engineers with a good understanding of mathematics, with competence in the calculation and assessment of mechanical structures and machinery.

Work assignments:
• Assisting product groups in strength assessment of mechanical structures and machinery, pressure tanks and high pressure manifolds.
• Assisting product groups with product improvements.
• Drafting of strength assessment reports using Mathcad, ANSYS Mechanical, SAFI or similar and Visual Vessel Design.

Qualifications and skills:
• Engineering education (Master’s degree);
• 3 years’ experience or more with structural analysis using FEM is preferable. However, newly educated applicants will also be evaluated.
• Experience from project implementation, project systems and document handling systems;
• Good communication skills, structured approach, be flexible and quality-conscious;
• Good written and verbal presentation abilities in Portuguese and English are required;
• Personal skills/profile will be emphasized.
