Are you our new teacher for one of Gällivare Municipality’s compulsory schools?
As a teacher in Gällivare Municipality, we can offer you meaningful and varied work with great opportunities for professional development.

Gällivare Municipality has a total of nine compulsory schools, both in the central area and in our surrounding villages. Within the municipal school system, in addition to qualified teachers, we also have lead teachers, special educators, special needs teachers, school counselors, school nurses, class mentors, and teaching assistants. In grades 1–6, every school has class mentors, and in the upper grades (7–9) in the town area, we also have school hosts who provide extra support.

When you start a new position as a teacher in Gällivare Municipality, you will be offered a one-year mentorship with an experienced teacher who serves as your personal guide and support during your first year.

As a teacher, you will work with teaching and learning. You will plan, prepare, deliver, and evaluate lessons and students’ progress based on the national curriculum. You will collaborate closely with guardians to ensure the students’ learning and well-being.

Most teachers also serve as mentors for a class, with responsibility for building relationships and following up on each student’s development and well-being.

We are looking for someone with a Swedish teaching certificate (legitimation).
We also welcome applications from those who are about to complete or have started their teacher education for compulsory school.

You should be responsible, have clear leadership in the classroom, and easily build good relationships with students, guardians, and colleagues.

Engagement, solution focus, flexibility, innovative thinking, and a strong ability to cooperate are qualities highly valued within Gällivare Municipality’s schools.
