SYSTEMATIC - Operational Tester for mission-critical defence products
“Test as they fight” and become part of a strong and unique network of brilliant testers!
About the position
As our new Operational Test Engineer, you will join a well-established programme with approx. 25 highly skilled colleagues working in close collaboration to ensure high-quality products for Systematic customers. You will be part of our QA team in Defence comprising two Operational Testers, one Infrastructure Specialist, one Suite Test Manager and a Test Project Manager. Together, they constitute a staff function catering for all programmes within our Defence business unit and ensuring that quality is at the forefront of our solutions. As our new Operational Test Engineer, you will become part of this function, with an outstanding opportunity to engage in knowledge sharing and sparring with colleagues from across the business unit.
Responsibilities and tasks
Our products are used all worldwide and are designed to simplify crucial decision-making in demanding situations. As our Operational Test Engineer, you will play a key role in ensuring high quality in the development and maintenance of our mission-critical software products. Your primary responsibility will be conducting integration tests across all our products in Defence. Our integration tests cover all the products in our Defence suite, from single soldier to headquarters. Your work will primarily involve conducting exploratory tests based on existing manual test cases, your test experience and also your knowledge from the defence domain – testing will thus be experience-based and not always very traditional.
In an exciting and varied working day, your daily tasks will involve:
- Suite integration testing across the entire Defence business unit.
- Assisting our Product Test Engineers on the individual programmes.
- Participating in beta testing before final product release.
- Maintaining integration testware, including test documentation, test cases and operational test environment.
- Maintaining knowledge about new and existing functionality in all products.
- Using your test skills as well as your domain knowledge to ensure high product quality.
Are you the newest member of our team? Then you:
- Have a solid background from working within the Defence domain, where you ideally have worked with our products in a real-life setting/context. If not, then you might also be an experienced Test Engineer interested in working within the military domain.
- Have worked as an IT/BMS (Battle Management System) specialist or NCO (non-commissioned officer).
- Have experience with military communication hardware, cloud computing and a thorough understanding of automation and IT in general, which is very beneficial for this position; however, it is not a requirement.
- Have a natural curiosity and a passion for the defence domain which will inspire you in your daily working life to improve the quality of the products.
- You are fluent in English, and thrive in an international working environment.
Practical information
- You should expect approx. 10 days of travel a year in the role to visit our international colleagues.
- We will be assessing applications on an ongoing basis as we wish to fill the position as soon as possible.
