We invite interested candidates to visit us for a period of 3-5 days to get to know us and for us to get to know you. During your visit, we offer an introduction to the department and the way we work at Odense University Hospital (OUH), including specific job opportunities. Accommodation during your stay will be covered. Upon employment, passing a three-month full-time Danish language training is required before being allowed to do clinical work/work in the clinic.  Specialized medical doctor in pulmonology

Join us as a pulmonologist. Especially, we are looking for candidates with a special interest in asthma diagnostics and treatment. Research is considered as part of the position including with employment as a postdoctoral researcher, associate professor, or clinical professor. The Department of Respiratory Medicine aspires to be the best in our field and we therefore encourage all interested candidates with a passion for working with the respiratory system and contributing to education and training of doctors to apply for the position. The Department of Respiratory Medicine is the university department for pulmonology in Region Syddanmark (Southern Region of Denmark, population of 1.22 million inhabitants).

The Department of Respiratory Medicine focuses specifically on research, education on all levels of the speciality, and development of highly specialized functions within the field of pulmonology. Currently we are responsible for the highly specialized functions in pulmonology in Region Syddanmark and the focal point in Region Syddanmark for diagnosing and treating lung cancer, severe asthma, tuberculosis and complex pleurapulmonary infections. South Denmark Center for Interstitial Lung Diseases (SCILS) is part of the Department of Respiratory Medicine and serves as a tertiary referral center for rare and interstitial lung diseases, lung transplantation, pulmonary mycoses and other opportunistic infections. Diagnosis and treatment is handled in a close interdisciplinary cooperation with other departments with including several monthly MDDs, but also the highly specialised PUlmo-REuma clinic (PURE), which is managed by SCILS in collaboration with rheumatologists. Furthermore, SCILS acts as an European reference center for interstitial lung diseases by being member of the European Reference Network LUNG with monthly participation in international MDDs.

The department also runs Center for Lung Cancer (CFL), which follows international standards for invasive diagnostics and uses ENB, EBUS, rEBUS, EUS-b, medical thoracoscopy and advanced thoracic ultrasound. The OUH Simulationcenter (SimC) is used for all types of medical training for young doctors and specialists (and development of specialized medical functions and YL). The Department of Respiratory Medicine has close relationship with the Department of Occupational Medicine regarding airway challenge tests using provocative chambers for diagnosing labor related allergies, and the Center for Exercise induced Dyspnea has close collaboration with the Department for Otolaryngology on e.g., performance of continuous laryngoscopy exercise test Overall, offering clinical and research career opportunities alongside an inspiring work environment is a top priority at the Department of Respiratory Medicine. This has resulted in a high number of applicants for open positions. The Odense Respiratory Research Unit (ODIN) is rapidly growing with an emphasis on clinical research that benefits patients, society and health personnel. During the past ten years, ODIN has undergone a huge transformation, resulting in twice as many clinical researchers and five times as many peer reviewed publications. As part of a further integration of clinical work and research, the specialists of the Department of Respiratory Medicine are expected to actively contribute to perform research at the department. Profile:

 Medical doctor specialized in pulmonology with documented qualifications and interest in asthma

 Documented research experience and/or a strong interest in a career in research  Strong written and oral communication skills

 Ability to work closely with colleagues across disciplines

 Interest and possibly experience with continuously improving working processes
