Shift Lead - BAT Trieste
As a Shift Lead at BAT, you’ll play a critical role in managing production teams to achieve key operational goals while ensuring adherence to safety and quality standards. Reporting to the Cell Manager, this role involves overseeing and guiding Machine Operators and Shift Technicians (MO and ST), coordinating resources according to production plans, and fostering an environment of continuous improvement. Most of your time will be spent working directly with the team on the production floor to coach, support, and ensure objectives are met.
Key Responsibilities:
- Team Leadership & Resource Allocation
- Plan and allocate team resources in line with production schedules, manage attendance, and approve leave requests.
- Provide annual training plans for team members, including biannual training sessions, and oversee onboarding for new team members.
- Coaching & Process Optimization
- Ensure that team members adhere to hygiene, quality, and Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) standards.
- Train and mentor the team on the effective use of IWS tools and proper work practices.
- Drive the team towards a zero-loss culture, improving machine stoppages and downtime.
- Operational Reporting & KPI Tracking
- Maintain accurate records in production and HR systems, ensuring clear handovers between shifts.
- Have a solid understanding of company KPIs, and use a coaching approach to help the team achieve these goals.
- Collaborative Problem-Solving
- Work cross-functionally with departments such as Quality, Logistics, and Maintenance to foster an open, participatory environment.
- Support the implementation of improvement proposals, contribute to planning and execution, and assist with process troubleshooting.
- Step in on the production line as needed for operational support, including during staffing shortages or equipment testing.
- Support IWS Implementation
- Lead team members in IWS (Integrated Work Systems) tools and principles, aiming to reduce downtime and optimize productivity.
- Document and standardize process improvements and coach the team in executing RTT and DMS tools.

Participate in Daily Direction Settings (DDS) and coach the team to lead these sessions effectively.
Required Skills and Experience:
- Education & Experience:
- Basic knowledge of both Swedish and English (written and spoken).
- Previous experience in a manufacturing environment is required; experience in the food industry or an international organization is advantageous.
- Familiarity with live data systems and continuous improvement methodologies (IWS, LEAN production) is desirable.
