A 3-year PhD scholarship in experimental physical chemistry and biomedical engineering is available at Center for Nanomedicine and Theranostics, Department of Chemistry, Technical University of Denmark. The position will be available from the 1st of December 2015 or as soon as possible thereafter.



The current PhD project focuses on formulation of radionuclides and organometallic drugs in liposomes and gels used for treatment of cancer. In the project, the candidate will utilize various biophysical, advanced analytical and radiochemical techniques to elucidate properties governing drug loading/release kinetics and thermodynamic stability. The project is highly interdisciplinary focusing on material design. The performance of the materials will be evaluated in cell and animal models, in collaboration with cell biologists, veterinarians and radio-chemists associated with Center for Nanomedicine and Theranostics (<a href='javascript:openLinkWindow("http://www.nanomedicine.dtu.dk)")' "="" data-cke-saved-href='javascript:openLinkWindow("http://www.nanomedicine.dtu.dk)")'>http://www.nanomedicine.dtu.dk).



Qualifications

Applicants should have a Master of Science degree in analytical, physical or radio-chemistry, chemical engineering or equivalent background that provide a strong set of analytical skills. All applicants should have a strong interest in working experimentally in a cross-disciplinary environment and should have very good collaboration skills. Strong communication skills and a strong academic record is an advantage. The applicants should strive towards scientific excellence, be ambitious and hard working. Only applicants with great talent and the possibility to be among the brightest in their field will be considered.



Approval and Enrolment

The scholarships for the PhD degree are subject to academic approval, and the candidates will be enrolled in one of the general degree programmes of DTU.
