Would you like to join a team of highly skilled employees working with offshore wind farms? Join us and become Metocean and Load Engineer for large offshore wind projects in the Loads, Aerodynamics & Control department. We are mainly responsible for assessing wind and wave conditions for our future offshore wind farms and for performing optimised site-specific load calculations for the design of wind turbine foundations. Loads, Aerodynamics & Control is part of Wind Power, which has 1400 employees and is one of four business units in DONG Energy. Wind Power is the world’s largest developer and operator of offshore wind power, and we use our unique knowledge in all phases of our wind turbine projects. During the last 20 years, we have developed and constructed the largest portfolio of offshore wind farms in Northern Europe. You may choose freely to be based either at our office in Skærbæk near Fredericia or in Gentofte in the Greater Copenhagen area. However, you should expect some travelling in relation to your work. Areas of responsibility You are responsible for the assessment and documentation of metocean conditions and loads to be used for the design of our offshore wind turbine foundations. The design is performed in an iterative process in close cooperation with our steel designers, geotechnical staff and wind turbine manufacturers. To ensure compliance with international standards, the assessment must be certified by a third-party certification agency. Furthermore, your key duties could be to: prepare parts of the design basis for WTG and offshore substation foundation design prepare specifications and analyse field data from load measurement campaigns provide weather data for installation and O&M planning provide technical support to the wind power organisation on issues related to loads, aerodynamics and control in connection with design review of wind turbines, tender processes and O&M issues participate actively in broadening the knowledge base of the department and improving our methods, tools and working procedures within this field. Your profile You have a master’s degree in engineering combined with experience in either aeroelastic load analysis of wind turbines using Flex5, HAWC2 or similar codes, assessment of wind conditions for offshore wind farm sites or assessment of wave conditions and wave loads for offshore structures. It is essential that you have the desire to work on the forefront of technology combined with the ability to understand a wide range of multidisciplinary technical disciplines within the field of offshore wind turbines and the possible effects on the foundation design. It is beneficial if you have thorough knowledge of structural dynamics and hydrodynamics and have a flair for software model development. As a person, you are motivated by creating excellent and high quality results through teamwork. Additionally, you have an analytical approach to your work, and you are able to manage and prioritise multiple tasks simultaneously in a timely and effective manner. Finally, you show initiative and easily collaborate with colleagues and business partners. You thrive in an international environment, working with colleagues at different levels and with various nationalities and cultural backgrounds.
