Primary Purpose:
Lays out, fabricates, assembles, installs and maintains piping, fixtures and equipment for gas, steam, hot water or oil heating, cooling, lubricating, and industrial processing systems.
Essential Duties:
• Interpret sketches, blue prints, isometric drawings and P&IDs
• Installation of pipe and related materials and equipment, such as supports, and hangers according to job specifications
• Performs layout, rigging and transportation of pipe, valves and fittings
• Inspects worksite to determine presence of obstructions
• Plans sequence on installation to avoid obstructions and activities of other workers
• Mounts pipe hangers and brackets on walls and ceiling to hold pipe
• Secures pipes to structure with bracket, clamps, and hangers, using hand and power tools
• Loads, transports and unloads material, tools, equipment and supplies
• May assist in lifting, positioning and securing of material and work pieces during installation
• Performs minor maintenance of cleaning activities of tools and equipment
• Relies on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job
• Respiratory protection is common and may be required
• Responsible for observing and complying with all company, safety and project policies
• Works at heights without fear
• Performs other duties as assigned
Required:
• Must have a minimum of one years’ experience as a pipe fitter
• diploma, apprenticeship or equivalent related work experience
• Must have industrial experience
• Knowledge of commonly-used concepts, practices and procedures
• Knowledge of industrial mechanical systems
• Field verify, routing, pipe systems prior to fabrication
• Work within precise limits or standards of accuracy
• Plan work and select proper tools
• Visualize objects in three dimensions from plans and drawings
• Apply mathematics to solve problems
• Basic skills in german language
Preferred:
• good german language skills
• TIG welding experience or certificate
