About us

At Clinical Chemistry and Pharmacology, we are approximately 140 employees who perform approximately eight million analyses per year. The laboratory is accredited.

We have a strong and growing mass spectrometric activity and close collaboration with Uppsala University on method development and analysis of large-scale mass spectrometric data. Within our cooperation we conduct clinical research with our common goal to bridge clinical research findings to clinical use.

Duties

At Clinical Chemistry and Pharmacology, you will focus on mass spectrometric and chromatographic methods.  As part of a phase 2 study, your assignments will consist of:

• evaluating and implementing mass spectrometric analysis methods, 
• being responsible for the analysis of a given drug in patients, 
• participating in analysis on our mass spectrometers for other methods,
• assisting in troubleshooting,
• monitoring of methods and apparatus and
• monitoring of quality assurance systems.

Part of the service will consist of work on the University joint analysis platform, CARAMBA (Clinical Analysis & Research applying Mass spectrometry & Bioinformatics at Akademiska). 

Your tasks will then be to develop methods and analyse biological samples using proteomics and metabolomics, within the framework of our common research questions. Furthermore, you will participate in the writing of scientific reports.

Qualifications:

We are looking for an experienced Chemist, Laboratory Engineer or equivalent with knowledge in mass spectrometry, chromatographic separation and also preferably proteomics / metabolomics.

Experience of high-resolution mass spectrometers or experience from hospital laboratories is meritorious. 

We would like to see you have research experience and being research-oriented.

We offer a fixed-term employment contract under one year in Clinical Chemistry and Pharmacology at Uppsala University Hospital, with the possibility of extension.
