Overall job purpose: To ensure the smooth and efficient service of all food and drinks within the bar area, complying with company standards and ensuring guest satisfaction at all times. Responsible for stock control, ordering and stock taking, ensuring a maximum of profit at all times

Main Duties:

  • To arrive for work on time and in proper uniform.
  • To ensure a high standard of personal hygiene and grooming.
  • To ensure that the bar area is fully prepared for service.
  • To ensure that the bar mis-en-place is maintained.
  • To ensure that all food is served correctly, complying with company hygiene standards.
  • To know and observe all licensing laws and report any deviations to the General Manager, according to current licensing and customs and excise regulations.
  • To ensure that all Human Resources and Training records are kept and liaison with Human Resources is maintained.
  • To follow rigidly all HR policies and procedures.
  • To liaise with HR on all recruitment needs
  • You are responsible for participating in the Customer Service Programme within Lawlor’s of Naas
  • To organise the cleaning schedule
  • To ensure the responsible serving of alcohol and to ensure staff are aware of their duties
  • To ensure a welcoming atmosphere is created by the layout and set-up of the bar at all times.
  • To ensure a high standard of hygiene and cleanliness in all bar, storage, waste disposal and bar kitchen areas at all times.
  • To ensure staff are briefed on personal and guest security. To ensure any incidents are dealt with effectively.
  • To ensure cashiering duties are accounted for and completed correctly.
  • To manage pilferage and shortages,
  • Responsible for the smooth running of the function bars and to ensure stock levels are maintained.
  • To watch business levels and subsequently monitor rosters on a daily basis.
  • To roster staff accurately and effectively according to business requirements and to monitor these business levels daily.
  • To ensure you reach your budgeted GP is in your department and improve where possible.
  • To ensure that all training records are maintained and updated at all times and to identify training needs.
  • To control and monitor all staff on duty ensuring all duties are being fully carried out in accordance with Company Procedures.
  • To attend weekly HOD meetings.
  • To ensure a high standard of service and attention to detail within the hotel/your department.
  • To maximise staff productivity and encourage staff motivation by helping to create a positive working environment.
  • To conduct regular departmental meetings.
  • To carry out our customer relations policy ensuring that we maintain 4 Star standards at all times.
  • To adhere to all Fire, Safety and Hygiene regulations and to comply with the Health and Safety at work act 2005 as detailed in the hotel staff handbook
  • To report and where possible take action on incidents of accidents or damage in the Hotel.
  • To familiarise and adhere to Company Policies and procedures as outlined in your staff handbook.
  • To ensure that necessary steps are taken to safeguard Company money, goods and assets.
  • To be proactive in maintaining energy efficiency within the Hotel.
  • To establish and maintain a good working relationship with other members of staff and Management at all times.
  • To familiarise yourself and to carry out duties laid out in the departmental S.O.P. manual.
  • To deal with customer complaints in an efficient and professional manner and to notify Management of these.
  • To up sell the Company products and services where possible.
  • Any other sundry task, not mentioned but within scope of the job.
