We are now looking for an energetic, customer-orientated



Technical writer



to join our Change Management Team (of eight dedicated professionals). You will be working to create and maintain excellent Technical Information products in an easy to read, understandable way that helps our Customers to optimise the efficiency and performance, throughout the lifetime of their Wärtsilä products. The preferred location is Vaasa, Finland.



You will be guided and supported by our Change Management Engineers who co-ordinate the Requests For Changes (RFC’s) to the Operation and Maintenance Manuals content.



In this position, your main tasks and responsibilities will be to:

  • Create, update, maintain and publish the content for our products Operation and Maintenance Manuals and Work cards.
  • Act as a content management detective, assuring high quality content, re-usability and content harmonisation.
  • Ensure the up-to-date, technically accurate information is available for publishing in a variety of formats, via our Content Management System.
  • Technical writing
  • Creating new content for the products supported by Technical Information
  • Update and maintain the existing content
  • Condition the content for product variants
  • Information design
  • Clarify and define update scope with the Experts concerned
  • Help the Change Management Engineer with practical project arrangements
  • Record the changes, i.e. content traceability and project requirements changes
  • Advise and co-ordinate the language of the content
  • Actively participate in update, status and review meetings
  • Assure the quality of the Technical Information products
  • Follow and continuously improve quality guidelines
  • Act as a content administrator. Consider, deliver and exceed Customers’ expectations on Technical Information products
  • Publish content to the Wärtsilä Content Management System

     

To be successful in this position, we expect you to:

  • Have a BSc or MSc degree in mechanical engineering or similar professional qualifications
  • Have an excellent command of English, both written and oral
  • Have effective communication skills
  • Have good co-ordination and problem-solving skills
  • Be meticulous and have a good eye for detail
  • Have good self-management skills
  • Have a strong interest or willingness to learn about engine technology, technical communication and content management systems
  • Be a social and curious person, who is not afraid of discussing issues with our Technical Experts face-to-face
  • Be a good team player, who works well with others
  • Work with high energy and determination

     

The following attributes are considered an advantage:

  • Experience using Excosoft Skribenta or a DITA Content Management System
  • Experience in engineering or relevant professional work
  • Knowledge and experience of content and revision change management
