Senior Lecturer in Product Innovation

Product innovation is part of the Department of Social sciences, Technology and Arts (ETKS). The department has leading activities in economics, labour science, innovations, natural resources, environment, and energy. The department offers technical and social science education within many educational programs. The department has around 240 employees and conducts research in 12 research subjects distributed among three divisions where the subject of Product Innovation is part of the Humans and Technology division.

Among other things, we conduct research in the development and design of sustainable products, services, and production. You get to work in a stimulating research environment together with industrial companies in various industries, from space and vehicle technology to food production, and help in our civil engineering programs.
Within the scope of the position, you will participate in a research group working on various aspects of innovation and creativity in the product development process, from early idea phase and design to production and life cycle commitments. The subject area lies at the intersection between business development, product development and production development with innovation in focus. In addition to contributing to the academic environment in the form of increased understanding and knowledge within the subject, the research results are also translated into methods, tools, and guidelines for industrial application.
Teaching in the subject area is mainly carried out within the master's degree engineering programs Technical Design, Mechanical Engineering, and Industrial Economics.
Subject description
Product Innovation comprises theories and methods for needs- and knowledge-driven development processes where products and services are linked.
Duties
The work includes conducting research projects and communicating its results through academic publications, as well as being active within the subject’s research community. The position includes approx. 50% research where a large part of the work is to contribute to searching for external research funds and to participate in management and administrative tasks.
As a lecturer in product innovation, you will develop and participate in teaching at basic and advanced level as well as supervise degree theses and doctoral students.
The position also includes contributing to the university's development work and following the subject's international development as well as developing external contacts and collaborative projects with external actors in product and production innovation.
Qualifications
Qualified for an appointment as senior lecturer are those who:
- have been awarded a doctoral degree or have equivalent scientific qualifications.
- have demonstrated teaching expertise.
- have completed courses in higher education pedagogy corresponding to 7.5 credits or otherwise have acquired equivalent knowledge.

Other assessment criteria (equally weighted):
- PhD in product innovation (or equivalent).
- Experience of teaching including course development in the areas of product and production development as well as innovation management
- Experience in the manufacturing industry and specifically the space and aviation industry are advantageous.
- Strong scientific background verified by a reasonable number of publications after disputation.
- Ability to cooperate with the surrounding society, specifically the ability to lead innovation work is meritorious.
- Ability to communicate about research and development work.
- Administrative skills that are important with regard to subject content and the work tasks included in the employment.
- Very good knowledge of English, in speech and writing, and being able to teach in Swedish and English.
- Consideration will also be given to good collaborative skills, drive and independence, as well as how the applicant, through experience and competence, is judged to supplement and strengthen ongoing research, basic education and innovation within the subject and contribute to its future development.
