Job Summary:

Our company is seeking a Senior Electrical Design Engineer with a minimum of 7-10 years of relevant experience to lead our electrical design projects. As a Senior Electrical Design Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and testing electrical systems and equipment for a variety of industries, including but not limited to commercial, hospitality, healthcare, industrial and residential projects. The ideal candidate should have a strong technical background in electrical engineering, excellent project management skills, and a track record of successful project completion.

 

Reporting to the Engineering Design Manager, the Senior Electrical Design Engineer will work closely with the Engineering Department, and Draughting Department. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of success in leading and collaborating with other disciplines to create a construction set of documents and work with suppliers and manufacturers to specify appropriate electrical equipment.

Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop electrical systems and equipment according to customer specifications and industry standards.
  • Create and review electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical specifications.
  • Conduct feasibility studies and cost analyses to determine the feasibility and cost-effectiveness of electrical systems.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including mechanical, software, and manufacturing engineers, to ensure seamless integration of electrical systems into overall product designs.
  • Develop and execute test plans to verify the functionality and reliability of electrical systems and equipment.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues that arise during the design and testing phases.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends, advancements in electrical engineering, and emerging technologies.
  • Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior electrical engineers.
  • Advise on more efficient energy management and sustainability practices.
  • Ensure building compliance with local and national electrical codes and regulations.
  • Define project scope, including budgets, to ensure projects are fully developed at concept stage
  • Lead design of utility and building services systems, including MV and LV power distribution, lighting, life safety systems, and security systems to meet the operational requirements of our clients' objectives
  • Input and support the mechanical design development on projects
  • Review and approve equipment submittals for all electrical aspects of design
  • Oversee technical support for information requests prior to and during construction phases
  • Oversee the installation of projects on client sites, including all elements of Quality, Health and Safety, and Technical compliance
  • Work with commissioning teams to properly test and validate installation, operation, and performance of electrical systems
  • Operate as an Ancillary Certifier for the purpose of BC(A)R and undertake inspections prior to BC(A)R project certification
  • Adhere to and monitor project programs, including regular progress tracking
  • Act as the point of contact with local utilities to understand and define site utility requirements
  • Effectively manage all financial and commercial aspects of site-related contracts, including variation orders and related customer/sub-contractor negotiations
  • Implement Renaissance Engineering approach and culture in terms of internal and external stakeholders
  • Manage resources to ensure tasks are allocated and achieved in accordance with project requirements and in line with our values, quality standards, and business objectives.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field
  • Minimum of 7/10 years of relevant experience in a similar role
  • Chartered Engineer (CEng) license preferred (but not compulsory)
  • Strong knowledge of building codes, regulations, and standards
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and project management skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team
  • Proficient in AutoCAD, Revit and other relevant software
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Strong project management skills and the ability to lead cross-functional teams.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel to client sites as needed
