Senior buyer

For our Procurement & Contracting department in Antwerp we are looking for a Senior Buyer who will have the following responsibilities:

• You prepare with the participation of the Project Manager and the Construction Manager:
  • Market research of potential suppliers based on Worley’s experience, Client’s experience and audits at contractor’s facilities.
  • An overall project purchasing plan defining:
    • Purchasing plan/philosophy for each requisition.
    • Delivery schedules.
    • Responsibility for the supply of materials (Worley or contractors).
• You establish, within the Worley België standard framework, basic document templates as well as pre-award and post-award procedures for the project.
• You will do the coordination between purchasing, expediting, shipping and inspection.
• You evaluate the commercial parts of the vendors’ bids (a.o. reliability, shop workload, pricing, delivery times, payment and delivery conditions).
• You are primarily accountable for the final selection of the right contractor for each bid package in agreement with the Project Manager and the Construction Manager.
• You review, before issuing by Procurement, the completeness of the inquiry/purchase order package, assuring that prior to placing a purchase order the monetary budget is adhered to and the delivery/completion date(s) is (are) in line with the proposal/project schedule.
• You expedite or have expedited the receipt of vendor’s/contractor’s purchase order acceptance.
• You control the commercial aspects of all project purchase orders until delivery on site.
• You ensure that the inquiry and other procurement reports are up-to-date.
• You ensure proper filing of inquiries, purchase orders and related documents.
• You are responsible for claims management.
• You communicate with the client’s procurement representative and project manager and maintain the good relations
• You report to the Department Head Procurement & Contracting

The Senior Buyer needs to have the following profile:

• Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in (Commercial) Engineering or operate at the same level based on your relevant experience
• You have more than 5 years of relevant experience in supply management
• Excellent negotiation skills
• Fluent in English. Speaking Dutch is a clear advantage.
• Operate well in a multi-company team environment
• A relationship builder with suppliers, management, clients, support organization and project team
