Beschreibung des Stellenangebots

You are invited to join the research laboratory of the Institute of Electronics and Computer Science (hereafter referred to as EDI), which researches and develops machine vision methods for industry, agriculture and autonomous vehicle control (https://www.edi.lv/en/robotics-and-machine-perception/). The work requires the development of algorithms and software that allow self-driving cars to sense and recognise their environment and react accordingly, improving road safety. The responsibilities are closely related to the fusion of sensor data for environment mapping and the use of machine sensing algorithms for the development of a traffic environment model.

Job duties

  • Independently or under the supervision of a supervisor (researcher, senior researcher), carry out individual work tasks in basic research or innovative projects;
  • Research and develop machine learning algorithms and software for environmental sensing;
  • Test the developed software in simulations and driving experiments;
  • Participate in the publication of research results and their presentation at scientific meetings.

Requirements for applicants

  • Good knowledge of C/C++ and Python programming languages, practical experience desirable;
  • Knowledge of GPU accelerated computing (CUDA, openGL) and machine learning (DL, RL, Tensorflow, Pytorch) will be an advantage;
  • Very good written and spoken English and Latvian;
  • Good communication skills, ability to work both in a team and individually;
  • Higher education in computer science or equivalent is desirable, PhD studies will be an advantage (possibility to combine the PhD thesis with work at the Institute);
  • High sense of responsibility and punctuality.

We offer

  • Work in a large, internationally recognised research organisation that was ranked the highest in Latvia in the most recent international evaluation of scientific institutions in the field of engineering and computer science;
  • Work on international projects in collaboration with leading European companies;
  • Professional development opportunities and working in a team with experienced colleagues;
  • The opportunity to work part-time, thus combining work and studies, including the development of a PhD/MSc/BA thesis at EDI;

  • Good lunch offer;
  • Physical activities outside work (volleyball, gym, etc.).

Please send your application, CV and proof of education to: kaspars.ozols@edi.lv with the subject ”Application for a job in the field of machine vision and self-driving cars”.

We look forward to receiving your application!
