Function: Barco is looking for a Hardware & FPGA Development Engineer for the Immersive Experiences Business Unit.

From inspiring people at the Gent Light Festival, through bringing digital art to galleries and museums worldwide, to providing visuals at world’s leading concert stages, your work will make it happen!

You will be responsible for the beating heart of our projectors, image processing and control design process for a digital projector, from prototyping, to selecting the appropriate components, schematic entry, follow-up of board lay-out and complex VHDL design plus verification through lifetime maintenance.

Key responsibilities:

  • Participate in development of FPGA firmware for projector image processing
  • Develop detailed firmware designs from concept through implementation and verification
  • Implementation, configuration and verification of vendor IP-cores, especially related to different input standards - ex. HDMI, SDI, DP
  • Participate in design reviews
  • Schematic capture: follow-up and/or execution of complex hardware designs.
  • PCB lay-out: follow-up of complex boards (memory-interfaces, HSSI, ....)
  • Maintain a close relationship with the software engineers
  • Define test procedures for series production
  • Provide lifecycle support
  • Provide estimates on effort, cost and lead times.
  • Contribute to weekly project meetings

We are looking for a Barco colleague who:

  • Has a degree of master in computer science or electrical engineering
  • Can work in team and autonomously
  • Ability to analyse and solve complex system level problems
  • Strong desire to learn and adapt to new technologies and challenges
  • Has experience with complex FPGA designs using Intel and/or Xilinx parts and toolchains
  • Has experience with standard and custom high-speed serial interfaces
  • Has knowledge on IP-cores for standard video interfaces - HDMI, DP, SDI, ...
  • Has knowledge of verification technologies and tools
  • Has familiarity with hands-on debugging tools and technics
  • Has knowledge of digital signal processing
  • Has excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Familiarity with embedded system development is a plus
