For our Offshore Engineering team we are looking for a Geotechnical Specialist. As part of the foundation structure team you will be responsible for the geotechnical design, by providing input regarding soil models and performing geotechnical design checks. Furthermore, for sales projects you will advise on the suitability of different foundation concepts – monopile, jacket or other – in the initial project phase in relation to the geotechnical conditions. Moreover, you will be supporting the ongoing R&D activities within Siemens Wind Power in the field of soil-structure interaction.

What are my responsibilities?

More specifically, your responsibilities will include:

• Evaluation and interpretation of geotechnical investigation results (CPT data and lab tests on borehole samples)

• Implementation of industry-standard methods for the determination of soil parameters • Creation of soil stiffness models and determination of suitable soil damping values

• Formulation of requirements for geotechnical investigations (in-situ and lab tests) and critical assessment of measurement plans from geotechnical service providers

• Perform/coordinate geotechnical design risk assessments

• Identify and assess sources of conservatism in third party input, consult with experts in the field where needed • Manage and challenge certification body on interpretation of geotechnical investigation results • Determine & challenge cyclic degradation concept

• Ensure and document the setup and maintenance of geotechnical design processes, guidelines & best practices

What do I need to qualify for this job?

• MSc degree in geotechnical engineering, civil engineering or similar

• Knowledge of applicable codes and standards (e.g. API, ISO, DNV)

• Five years of relevant experience

• Good English skills both orally and in writing
