Maersk Drilling is looking for a Data Scientist to be responsible for Advanced Analytics across all domains in the organization, including Operations, Commercial, HR, Equipment Reliability, Finance and Safety.



The Data Scientist will extract, transform, and combine incoming data – for example sensor data from our rigs – with the goal of discovering a previously hidden insight, which in turn can provide a competitive advantage or address a pressing business problem. Working from a broad set of data, you will be working with both statistical models, IT tools as well as information management to solve business critical challenges. What sets the Data Scientist apart is proven business acumen, coupled with the ability to communicate findings to both business and IT leaders in a way that can influence how the organization approaches a business challenge.

You will be part of the Business Intelligence/Analytics Competence Center in Maersk Drilling IT. You will work in the Maersk Drilling office in Lyngby reporting to the Head of the team.





Key Responsibilities

• Work with others to develop, refine and scale data management and analytics procedures, systems, workflows, best practices and other issues.

• Recommend ways in which Maersk Drilling can apply data to business problems.

• Analyze large-scale data volume to deliver insightful analytics that solve key business problems.

• Develop innovative experimental design and measurement methodologies.

• Innovate new modeling and machine learning approaches.

• Collaborate on compelling new analytical reporting that enable data-driven decision-making.

• Find and interpret data rich sources, merge data together, ensure data consistency.

• Manage large amounts of data within the domain of hardware, software and bandwidth constraints.

• Translate findings into well engineered and easy to maintain data concepts.

• Question existing assumptions and processes.







Who we are looking for

You need to possess analytical and good technical skills, as you will work broad within as well as outside the organization, and with many technically diverse systems.

• A combination of statistical modeling experience and technical, engineering skills.

• Business acumen and a demonstrated ability to use analytics to drive key success metrics.

• Decidedly “hands-on” and not just theoretical.

• An experimental mindset.

• Ability and experience dealing with very granular data, using data storage platforms like Hadoop or similar.

• Ability and experience designing and developing solutions.

• Proven mastery of analytics.

o At least 6 months experience in machine learning models

o At least 1 year experience in Statistical Packages

o At least 6 months experience in programming language (R), R-Studio (or similar)

• Minimum five to seven years professional experience.

• Master degree in relevant field.

• Readiness to travel.

• English: Fluent
