The primary role of this position is to provide leadership, management, growth and development of a newly established Business Operations Incubation Centre.  In close partnership with the IT orgnisation, the centre will be responsible for, fostering a strong culture of innovation, designing adaptive processes, enhancing the agility of technology delivery and innovation and implementation of multiple new processes that improve Unum’s customers’ experience.

 

This position will require a strong cross functional partnership with the Information Technology Department, other service centers, field and Client Service teams, and external vendors and partners including, enrollment firms, benefit administration providers, and employers.

 

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provides collaborative leadership of a large, diverse organization including all aspects of people management - hiring, training, resource allocation, job design, people development and performance management that creates a high-performance innovative operating environment.
  • Helps create a vision through strong innovation and strategic leadership to provide present and future direction and goal setting
  • Initiates and drives continuous improvement efforts around key business processes utilizing technology as a key enabler.
  • Leads staff in a variety of competencies (project management, work process evaluation, people development, leadership behaviors).
  • Acts as a project leader for assigned project/initiative efforts
  • Act as a key member of the Irish Leadership team, and contribute to the growth and development of  Unum Ireland
  • May perform other duties as assigned

 

Job Specifications

  • Appropriate 3rd level IT or Business Qualification required, ideally at Degree level or above.
  • Experience working in a multinational organisation essential
  • Experience of a start up organisation highly desirable
  • Five to 10 years previous management experience essential
  • Previous experience in supplemental and group insurance beneficial
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, develop and manage others essential.  Motivates and holds team accountable for delivering results
  • Proven thought leadership, innovation, and behavioral management experience
  • Exceptional interpersonal, verbal and written communication and proven ability to communicate with all levels of employees and leaders
  • Exceptional customer service  skills
  • Ability to negotiate/persuade and solve problems effectively
  • Exceptional  collaboration skills with internal and external constituents
  • Professional designations beneficial, e.g. FLMI  
  • Strong change management orientation
  • Ability to work effectively and independently with limited supervision
