The Associate Chemist will be responsible to study, optimize Commercial Chemical Processes from a continuous improvement perspective, and report the results obtained. This person will also be responsible to keep up to date with the latest developments in Chemistry, Process Development and API manufacturing.



Main responsibilities:

  • Keep up to date with the latest developments in Chemistry, Chemical processes and API manufacturing;
  • Study and develop chemical processes improvement opportunities;
  • Executes laboratory work related to the evaluation of process improvement opportunities;
  • Participate in technical meetings; 
  • Analyze and interpret the results of the process improvement studies;
  • Identify patents and publication opportunities;
  • Participate in PAH sessions whenever required;
  • Prepare or Review Process Documentation;
  • Participate in corrective actions or preventive actions for deviations;
  • Participate in the technology transfer of validated processes between Hovione sites whenever required;
  • Participate in the implementation of process improvements at manufacturing;
  • Elaborate written reports with the results of the process improvement studies;
  • Speak at Scientific Events when invited or on submission of abstracts;
  • Attend Symposiums and/or Courses as part of continuous improvement;
  • Assure and promote compliance on Health, Safety and Environment in the areas and activities for wich is responsible or in wich

    participates.

     

Profile:

  • PhD in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering;
  • Knowledge of Organic Chemistry, Organic Synthesis, Process Development;
  • Knowledge of Process Optimization and cGMP will be an advantage, but not eliminatory;
  • At least of 2 years in the development of chemical processes in the area of fine chemicals, especially API production and in continuous improvement projects (preferably);
  • Ability to adapt the acquired knowledge to new situations;
  • Rigor and responsibility;
  • Initiative and dynamism;
  • Innovative and critical mind;
  • Ability to work in a team;
  • Good communication skills.
