Beschreibung des Stellenangebots

The Department of Photonics Engineering (DTU Fotonik) opens an entry-level faculty position as Assistant Professor in Optical Terahertz Science and Technology. The Department has a strong track record within this field, based on state-of-the-art experimental facilities including several amplified femtosecond laser systems and a variety of THz time-domain platforms for ultrafast spectroscopy.

Responsibilities and tasks

The aim is to strengthen experimental exploration of the interaction between ultrafast THz fields and matter, particularly in the directions of strong-field interactions, ultrafast phenomena, nonlinear spectroscopy, and nanoscale physics. The successful candidate will play an active role in the development of ongoing and future research directions within the field, with the aim of development of an independent, world-class research activity. Attraction of external funding is an integrated part of this process, and the candidate is expected to take active part in this.

The successful candidate is expected to take part in research-based teaching curriculum in physics and optics at all levels. Master and Ph.D. courses are taught in English. A significant part of the THz research at DTU Fotonik is carried out in collaboration with industry, and with this position we seek to further strengthen such collaborations, as well as the general exchange of knowledge with society.

The position will include the opportunity for collaboration with several research environments at the department and at DTU in general, including the Center of Excellence for Nanostructured Graphene (www.cng.dtu.dk) and the Departments of Nano- and Microtechnology, Physics, and Chemistry. The DTU research infrastructure offers state-of-the art cleanroom facilities (www.danchip.dtu.dk) and a unique electron microscope facility in Northern Europe (www.cen.dtu.dk).

Qualifications

Candidates for an Assistant Professorship must hold a PhD degree (or equivalent).

Further, the successful candidate will ideally have the additional qualifications:

  • Strong experience within experimental ultrafast optics
  • Strong motivation for development of new, independent research directions
  • Initial teaching experience
  • Strong teamwork skills
  • Experience with effective and safe data management
  • Experience with all aspects of publication of scientific results, including high-level English language skills

Assessment

In the assessment of the candidates consideration will be given to

  • experience in teaching
  • scientific production and research potential at an international level
  • the ability to promote and utilize research results
  • an all-round experience basis, preferably including international experience
  • the ability to contribute to development of internal and external cooperation
