Flanders, one of the 3 Belgian regions, is integrated in one of the most dynamic economic areas in Central Europe, keeping its growth trend since end-2013. It’s where the heart of technology beats and inventions for the future are given birth to every day.
However, employers keep facing shortages of qualified professionals, namely in Engineering, Construction and Technology domains.

- October 15th, 13:00 to 20:00 (local time): open onsite job event for potential candidates;
- October 16th: only by (interview) invitation.
This is an opportunity for you to meet and make contact with Flemish employers while gaining insight on living and working in Belgium - and, of course, Flanders in particular.
Work in Flanders will give you a full support package for your job search in Flanders, Belgium.
You will be able to:
- apply before the event for jobs matching your profile (only by doing so will you have the chance to be invited for one or more interviews)
- on the first job day:
- make the first contact with Flemish employers in person at the event onsite;
- take advantage of the onsite Programme, including company presentations on their recruitment needs and information about EURES mobility support and living and working in Belgium.
Participation is free of charge, but a limited number of places is available.

How to get to the venue

By plane
The nearest international airport is Oporto (Francisco Sá Carneiro) Airport.
From there, you can reach the Engineers’ Order by car / taxi / subway in 20-45 minutes.
If you choose the subway, take the E line up until “Trindade” stop, and then walk about 500 meters.
By train and subway
If coming from out of Greater Porto by train, you could leave in 2 train stations:
- Campanhã Train Station (15 to 20 minutes): take a train conection to “São Bento” train station (see bellow) or take the subway C line and leave in “Bolhão” stop, then walk 600 meters;
- São Bento Train Station (8 minutes): walk about 650 meters

By bus
The Engineers’ Order is in a very central location in Porto, close to Aliados Square, São Bento Station and Bolhão Market, and several buses stop less than 5 minutes walking distance from the venue: at least 200, 201, 208, 301, 305, 500, 501, 600, 601, 602, 703, 801, 900.

By car

Although there are several parkings in the area, bear in mind it may not be so easy to park the car nearby the event venue.
By taxi
From the Airport, it should take you around 20 minutes and 15-20 euros to get to the event venue.
From Campanhã Train Station, around 6-10 minutes and 7-9 euros.
Getting ready
This event is an opportunity for you to meet and make contact onsite with Flemish employers, while gaining insight into living and working in Belgium in general and Flanders in particular. The event will give you all the support needed for your job search in Flanders, Belgium.
To take full advantage of the event please remember to:
- Register as a jobseeker (participation is free of charge, but previous registration is mandatory, since limited places are available), see how by watching this video; (REGISTRATIONS TO BE OPEN SOON)
- complete your profile and upload your latest CV;
- Study and analyze the available information on the participating companies, their main projects and recruitment needs, identify the questions you want to place, anticipate possible questions by the employer
- browse through the job offers and apply before the event for these fitting your profile - only by doing so will you have the chance to be invited for one or more interviews
Participating companies may invite you for one or more recruitment interviews on October 15th or 16th. If you are pre-selected for an interview, you will get a notification from the employer(s) concerned, outlining possible time slots for the interview. You should reply to this notification as soon as possible.

During the event:
- Our advice is that you set the whole of October 15th aside in order to take advantage of the information and advice on offer
- Although the ideal approach is for you to apply for jobs before the day itself, you should always carry a few printed CVs in English - they may be useful when approaching the Exhibitors
- When approaching the company stands, it is vital that you create the best possible impression. This involves demonstrating a firm grasp of spoken English and a positive and assertive attitude. You should also be able to display proven knowledge of the companies in question and their current main projects. Attention to detail of this kind will make all the difference when it comes to creating the maximum positive impact
- Make sure you arrive on time for any pre-scheduled interview

Preparatory sessions include a presentation on the Flemish labour market, living and working conditions, job opportunities and personalized advice to better prepare your applications / your approach to Flemish employers.
Entrance is free, but for organisational purposes registration is required.
