As a dental hygienist in Sweden, you work with preventive dental care. One of the most important tasks is to help maintain good oral health, provide advice on oral hygiene and diet. You examine, diagnose, and carry out measures to prevent and treat dental caries and periodontal disease. With us, you will work closely with both dental assistants and dentists to provide the best possible care.

Kalmar County is located along Sweden’s southeastern coast, known for its warm and sunny weather. Here, you have access to Småland’s deep forests and beautiful archipelago, as well as our summer gem, Öland. From Oskarshamn and Västervik, there are year-round ferry connections to the beautiful island of Gotland. Kalmar County is connected to Europe through an air link between Frankfurt and Kalmar. Ferries also operate from various locations in southern Sweden to Germany and Poland.
Your future workplace:
With 14 clinics, we provide general dental care in all 12 municipalities of the county, from Torsås in the south to Gamleby in the north, and of course, Öland in the east! These clinics work closely with specialist dental care, which covers all specialist areas and is offered in our larger coastal cities: Kalmar, Oskarshamn, and Västervik.
Terms of employment:
Before moving to Sweden we recommend you to reach B2 level in the Swedish language. Your license as a dental hygienist needs to be recognized by the Swedish National Board of Health and Welfare. We provide further language studies in Swedish to reach the C1 level. All contracts follow local and national collective agreements. Salary is set individually depending on your qualification and experience. You will receive continuous information and support from Region Kalmar regarding relocation, establishment and language education. If you are an EU/EES citizen you may be eligible for support from EURES: EURES Targeted Mobility Scheme.
Support after moving to your new home in Sweden:
An intensive language course to reach C1 level in Swedish. Information regarding practical matters, such as social security number, bank accounts, etc. We will also give you information about housing, schools, kindergarten etc.
