Are you ambitious and willing to take part in developing services and treatments within the Department of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry and at the same time participate in optimizing everyday work in our outpatient clinic for both patients, relatives and colleagues?

The Department of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Southern Jutland is looking for medical specialists with a background and interest in developmental disorders / neuropsychiatry and related disorders in our multidisciplinary teams in Esbjerg and Aabenraa – but we would also look into applications from CAP specialists with other profiles.

You will be working in a team for developmental disorders / neuropsychiatry, where we primarily diagnose and treat outpatients between 4-19 years old within autism spectrum disorders, ADHD and other developmental disorders as well as Tourette syndrom.

We are organized in interdisciplinary teams and have a holistic approach to our patients. The department employs approximately 300 members of staff in three locations (Aabenraa, Vejle and Esbjerg) across different professions, amongst them 15 highly qualified medical specialists and 15 residents in postgraduate training in child and adolescent psychiatry – roughly one third of all these work in Esbjerg and

Aabenraa.

In order to ensure the best possible treatment, The Mental Health Services collaborate with different specialties and other agencies regarding the individual patient. For example, the patient’s own GP, somatic hospitals, municipality, social services, schools / institutions and patient-care organizations.

Work-life balance in Denmark

Denmark is famous for prioritizing a work-life balance. As a rule, everyone has a 37-hour working week with 6 weeks holiday a year. Esbjerg is a located on the west coast of Denmark, home to approx. 120.000 inhabitants. Here you will find beautiful nature, forests, beaches, cultural attractions and a University. Aabenraa is a minor city (approx.. 60.000 inhabitants) close to the German border rich in natural and cultural attractions. Billund international airport is in an easy distance by car from both cities.

Language requirements and authorization

Employees at The Mental Health Services must be able to communicate with patients, relatives and colleagues in Danish. As a doctor with a foreign education, you are required to pass Danish tests at multiple levels during the first year of your employment.

It is a prerequisite that you have specialist authorization from a European postgraduate training program. You can read more about Danish medical authorization here, in accordance with the procedure for EU member states.

Recruitment process

After screening the applications, we conduct Skype-interviews. We invite selected candidates and their spouses to visit the departments in Denmark. Conversations and interviews are in English. Similarly, the application and CV must be in English.
