FREYR Battery aims to provide industrial scale clean battery solutions to reduce global emissions. Listed on the New York Stock Exchange, FREYR’s mission is to produce green battery cells to accelerate the decarbonization of energy and transportation systems globally.
FREYR has completed its commercially sized pilot factory and started building the first of its planned gigafactories, both in Mo i Rana, Norway. The company has also announced potential development of factories in the U.S. and Vaasa, Finland.
FREYR intends to deliver a minimum of 50 GWh of battery cell capacity by 2025, over 100 GWh of annual capacity by 2028, and over 200 GWh of annual capacity by 2030.

The first step towards achieving our goals is building four battery cell factories in Mo i Rana. We have just opened the doors to our Customer Qualification Plant – the first industrial scale lithium-ion battery cell manufacturing facility in Norway. Here we will validate and improve technology, materials, and cell designs as we prepare for commercial production at our Gigafactories, where we plan to deliver 43 GWh of battery cell capacity annually by 2025, positioning FREYR as one of Europe’s largest battery cell suppliers.
You will be working with scaling up breakthrough semi-solid technology creating the most sustainable batteries the world has ever seen. We are looking for highly motivated professionals to join our mission, and to help us build a centre of excellence for battery cell manufacturing in Norway.
We are looking for an OEE engineer who wants to help prepare and operate our battery production facilities in Mo I Rana. This is a challenging role where you can expect to apply everything you know and learn a lot more. For the right candidate, this opportunity is a professional dream come true.
As an OEE engineer in FREYR, we are looking for you who have a Bachelor's or Master's degree preferably in Chemical engineering, Material Science or Mechanical engineering. In addition, minimum 3 years of experience from process industry/process manufacturing working with Lean manufacturing/Operational Excellence tools. At FREYR, we value good and clear communication, and since we are several different nationalities, you must have good English skills, both written and oral.
Your workday will consist of supporting production teams in achieving high availability, yield and efficiency in all the production facilities. You will be involved in developing and implementing Operational Excellence tools and methodology (5S, SOP’s, Root cause analysis, continuous improvement etc) to secure safe and efficient production. You will support technical teams in optimizing the equipment and develop systems to help improve OEE for all processes across all departments.
You will be part of a team with broad expertise in various fields, and you will work together towards achieving different production, safety and quality goals. We are looking for you who take responsibility, are solution-oriented and contribute to the team's goals being achieved. In this way, we will create history together.
We offer the right candidate an important role in developing Norway's first battery cell production facilities. Energy storage is an important key to the world's switch to a sustainable, green economy. FREYR is a frontrunner in Europe's rush to build capacity in battery production. A shift from fossil fuel to electricity-from-renewables could deliver 75 - 90% of the CO2 emission reductions required. FREYR has to move fast. The world needs both battery cells now, and ever better battery cells in the future.
