Role Summary

Gibraltar Reinsurance (GibRe) is a Bermuda based reinsurance captive owned by Prudential Financial Inc.

Pramerica (Prudential’s Irish subsidiary) is seeking a qualified or nearly qualified actuary to work with our US based actuarial business partners to support GibRe valuation work.   

The GibRe Valuation department is looking for individuals with a strong desire to see the big picture for a rapidly growing, strategically critical, and high impact reinsurance company. The primary responsibilities of the Valuation associate will be to execution implementation of new transaction onboarding, create in-force reporting deliverables, and providing Valuation input for new transaction business cases. Ideal candidates would be those eager to drive the realization of the reinsurance opportunities across the global enterprise and ensure excellence in execution of GibRe Valuation responsibilities.

 

Responsibilities

The Valuation associate’s detailed responsibilities would include the following:

  • Contribute to successful implementation of reporting processes and operating model for a newly established multi-billion-dollar affiliate reinsurance company’s Stat, GAAP, Tax, and Capital reporting deliverables. Responsibilities will cover Valuation, Forecast, and Stress Testing
  • Work with internal stakeholders at various levels to ensure delivery of quality reporting deliverables for GibRe’s in-force business with a clear story linked to business value for Valuation, Forecast, and Stress Testing
  • Work closely with Actuarial teams supporting new transactions and various other stakeholders across the Finance and Investment community to ensure reasonable Valuation methodologies are utilized in business case pricing and can be efficiently on-boarded for new reinsurance transactions

 

Qualifications, Skills & Experience

The ideal candidate would possess the following skillsets:

  • Bachelor’s degree is required
  • Fellow of the Society of Actuaries (or the UK Institute of Actuaries) designation (FSA/FIA), or near-FSA with at least 5 years of actuarial experience
  • Experience in model development and validation is a plus
  • Experience with GGY Axis is a plus
  • Superior technical skills (Excel, SQL, VBA)
  • Strong oral and communication skills
  • Strong organizational and teamwork skills
  • Highly motivated, conceptual thinker who is able to work independently and take a leadership role in a variety of assignments
