Job Summary:
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Assistant Cook to join our culinary team. As an Assistant Cook, you will work closely with our head chef and kitchen staff to ensure the smooth operation of our kitchen and the timely preparation of high-quality meals. Your primary responsibility will be to assist in food preparation, cooking, and maintaining a clean and organized kitchen environment.
Responsibilities:
- Assist in food preparation, including chopping, peeling, and portioning ingredients.
- Follow recipes and cooking techniques under the guidance of the head chef.
- Cook and plate dishes according to established standards and presentation guidelines.
- Maintain cleanliness and sanitation standards in the kitchen, including proper food handling and storage.
- Assist in inventory management, including monitoring stock levels and notifying the head chef of any shortages.
- Collaborate with the kitchen team to ensure smooth workflow and timely service.
- Adhere to all food safety and hygiene regulations.
- Assist in cleaning and maintaining kitchen equipment and utensils.
- Support the head chef in menu planning and recipe development.
Qualifications:
- Previous experience as a cook or in a similar role is preferred.
- Knowledge of basic cooking techniques and food preparation methods.
- Familiarity with kitchen equipment and utensils.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.
Requirements:
- Physical stamina to stand for long periods and lift heavy objects.
- Knowledge of food safety and sanitation regulations.
- Culinary certifications or training is a plus.
