We have a position for a senior software project leader in the application software team in Eindhoven (part of ASG). This team is responsible for the development of automation/application software for Transmission Electron Microscopes (TEM) and especially in the area of data acquisition and processing.



The Project Leader has primary responsibility for defining, planning, tracking and managing the project they are assigned. He/she is responsible for identifying key resources and providing the direction required for meeting the project objectives. He/she is also responsible for ensuring appropriate management, customer and supplier involvement throughout the life of the project.



Qualifications and skills of the Project Leader include an ability to lead and motivate people and encourage teamwork, an ability to communicate effectively with senior management, and a clear vision of what determines a successful product for the customer and for the company. In addition, the Project Leader must have a technical background sufficient to understand the technologies and technical issues involved with the product, to be able to anticipate and identify critical technical obstacles, and to make accurate technology decisions.



The Project Leader also must be able to manage project schedule and task details and utilize project management tools such as reports, tracking charts, checklists, and project scheduling software and to delegate appropriately. He/she must be able to manage change and take active leadership in timely decision making. Finally a Project Leader must have the courage to face up to issues squarely and early, resolve conflicts, admit to having problems and seek coaching openly, escalate if necessary, and generally champion the people and the project up, down, and across the organization and with customers.



This role is responsible for managing one or more Agile Teams within the constraints of scope, quality, time and cost, using the Agile methodology. This position utilizes the Product Management Process (PMP) to effectively guide new and existing products through development, upgrades and/or installations.



The ideal candidate for this position enjoys working in a multi-disciplinary technical environment to solve complex technical problems. The successful candidate will possess the following combination of education and experience:



* Typically requires MSc or Bachelor's degree in computer science, software engineering, system engineering, or equivalent

* Experience in a multidisciplinary high-tech development environment

* Demonstrated ability to lead engineering projects through a defined and rigorous management process. Must be able to reference prior experience in project management in a relevant technical field.

* Typically requires 5+ years proven experience in project management of system or application software

* Preference for development experience on top of highly-integrated, high-performance systems used in semiconductor capital equipment or related industries.

* At least five years of software development experience in a technical product development context is required. At a minimum, development experience with medium sized software applications.

* Additionally, 2 years of technical team leader experience in a team of up to 10 people is required.

* Excellent interpersonal communications skills are required due to the high degree of interaction and collaboration (multi-site)

Role and Responsibilities



* Define the project management process to be applied to the project.

* Prepare project plan and obtain management approval of the project plan.

* Assure that all team members understand their roles and accept their responsibilities

* Apply project resources according to the approved project plan.

* Analyze risk and instigate avoidance activities. Establish contingency plans and identify trigger events and responsibility for initiating corrective action.

* Track and report on progress to plan.

* Analyze the actual performance against the plan and make adjustments consistent with plan objectives.

* Keep all stakeholders informed of progress and issues.

* Involve functional expertise in design reviews and key decisions as well as risk strategies.

* Assure timely adaptive action is taken.

* Manage change to preserve business plan commitments. Initiate Phase Review if objectives must change.

* Negotiate the performance of activities with team members and their managers.

* Establish and publish clear priorities among project activities.

* Coordinate management and technical decisions.

* Provide input on the performance of project team members to their supervisors.
