Avika Indisk Mat is a well-known Indian takeaway and catering place, also featuring a small and cozy dine-in space for around 10 guests. Based in the heart of Hønefoss, about 80 km north of the capital Oslo, we're known for our authentic Indian flavours, freshly prepared food, and warm, personal service. 

 

We are looking for an enthusiastic, creative cook with a passion for food and a willingness to learn Indian cuisine. Experience with Indian cooking is not required as long as you are eager, positive, and motivated, we will teach you.

We are a friendly, growing business, and we need someone who can help lead our daily kitchen operations while delivering high, consistent quality.

Main Responsibilities

  • Prepare and present Indian dishes for take-away, catering, and dine-in
  • Maintain kitchen hygiene and documentation required by Mattilsynet
  • Monitor stock levels and report shortages
  • Provide friendly, professional customer service
  • Assist front-of-house on quieter days (taking orders, serving)
  • Handle the cash register and payments when needed
  • Suggest new dishes and contribute creative menu ideas
  • Support catering and outdoor events during summer

 

Požiadavky na pracovné miesto
  • Enthusiasm for cooking professional Indian cooking experience not necessary
  • Willingness to learn Indian cuisine and experiment with flavours
  • Basic knowledge of food safety & hygiene rules in Norway (or willingness to learn)
  • Good communication skills (English required; Norwegian is an advantage)
  • Reliable, flexible, independent and a team player

Salary according to the Norwegian collective wage agreement for cooks:

Cook without vocational training – beginner 34 077,88 NOK/month (gross); with 2 years experience 34 341,13 NOK/month (gross) – and upwards

Cook with vocational training – beginner 35 702,88 NOK/month (gross); with 2 years experience 35 966,13 NOK/month (gross) – and upwards

Supplement evening work: 16,01 NOK/hour (gross)

Supplement weekend work: 30,42 NOK/hour (gross)
