We are famed here at The Long Dock for our fresh seafood – and rightly so, given the bounty of fresh local fish and shellfish that is available on our doorstep.

We’re proud to have built an excellent reputation for our food offer, and of the team that Imelda leads front-of-house  and Tony leads in the kitchen.   But we all know that it is these fishermen and farmers, these local suppliers, growers and producers that make our award-winning  food so special.  We’re also lucky to have top quality meat on the Loop Head Peninsula, sourced from Hickeys butchers in Kilkee, our beef and lamb is reared by local farmer, Sean Haugh, whose animals graze on clover and salt – licked pastures overlooking the Cliffs of Kilkee.

At The Long Dock Carrigaholt, a great opportunity exists for Chefs to broaden their professional experience in an Award Winning Bar and Restaurant, while living in one of the most beautiful parts of rural Ireland on the Loop Head Peninsula.   Having experience working outside your own country is invaluable for future employment.   A good reference from a highly regarded Irish restaurant instantly makes you more attractive to prospective employers.   There is plenty of scope to progress your career path within the company as we have a strong reputation for retaining the right staff year after year and giving them any opportunity that arises for promotion and for which they are deemed suitable.  Also the education system in Ireland is highly regarded on an international level.   The opportunities are endless with regards to furthering your own education and developing your skills and knowledge base in any of our outstanding learning facilities. 

We require qualified, energetic and enthusiastic Chef de Partie (2), Chef de Partie with a passion for pastry and Sous Chef (1) to work in our busy restaurant.

We have a small hardworking team, all willing to work together to get the job done.  Our team is responsible not only for our A la Carte menu but we also have our own ice cream parlour and Artisan food store and we fill outdoor catering orders also.

The ideal candidates must be able to work well as part of a team but also be strong enough to hold down a section on their own.   Previous experience is essential and the candidate must be able to communicate well.   In brief your skill set should include but not limited to the following:-

Good Communication, Calm under Pressure, Teamwork, Passion, Driven, Hardworking, Punctual, Excellent Culinary Skills, Food Quality, Food Prep, Food Hygiene.

The successful applicant will be initially offered a nine month contract, with an opportunity to extend or renew it following the successful completion of a first contract.   The hours of work will be 39 hours per week over 5 days and include evening and weekend work based on the companies requirements.   An opportunity to earn more will arise during our busy tourist season, included are three weeks paid holidays and paid day in lieu for bank holidays worked.
