Job Description

Our client is a well-known international specialist insurer and reinsurer. They provide market-leading products and excellent service to individuals and businesses with unusual and often complicated insurance needs. Currently, they are reinforcing their team in Lisbon by recruiting an Accountant (f/m/d) fluent in German.

How will you help our client with?

  • Regular posting of business transactions;
  • Month, Quarter, and Year End activities;
  • Be involved in audit requests;
  • Support Accounts Payable, Assets accounting, and Treasury areas;
  • Accounts, banks, and systems reconciliations;
  • Intercompany reconciliations;
  • Support the production of financial monthly reports;
  • Liaising with internal and external parties to meet agreed deadlines;
  • Find proactive approaches to ensure regulatory, tax, corporate, and compliance requirements are met when applicable;
  • Analysis and preparation of management information reports as requested;
  • Support Country Finance Manager;
  • Assure the accuracy of accounting postings and compliance with accounting rules, internal accounting policy, and delegated authority matrix.;
  • Resolve queries from stakeholders by e-mail or phone;
  • Create and/or update processes and internal documentation on a regular basis;
  • Support and participate in the implementation of continuous improvement or change project work and processes;
  • Support Line manager in standardization/automation of European procedures;
  • Delivers exceptional quality service standards/KPI’s and maintain the relevant data updated.

What do you need to have?

  • Fluency in German (mandatory):
  • Good command of English (mandatory);
  • Degree qualification in Economic/Administrative/Accounting area or equivalent;
  • Good understanding of the concepts of Income Statement and Balance Sheet;
  • Previous experience in a similar role of about three years;
  • Strong communication, interpersonal and relationship-building skills;
  • Ability to organise, prioritise and plan workload to meet deadlines;
  • Critical thinking and a can do attitude;
  • Ability to manage the relationship with the different stakeholders, and  professionally firm and determined to assure accounting rules are met;
  • Good analytical skills;
  • Good interpersonal skills with the ability to work as a member of different teams.
