Who is Gate Gourmet? Gate Gourmet is part of Gategroup Holding, the world's leading provider airline catering services. The company prepares menus for passengers and staff, for airports and airport lounges. Gate Gourmet has employees around the globe. For the airport location in Munich in Germany we are looking for 16 food preparer/ kitchen assistants. Additionally we can offer jobs for vocational trained cooks and bakers.

Your tasks as food preparer / kitchen assistant:

• Assembling equipment and food components according to airline specifications
• Putting cold dishes on plates.
• Stocking trolleys for the plane e.g. drinks, forms, napkins, headphones, small snacks. 
• Stocking trays on assembly line for plane with silverware, rolls, butter, apples, etc.
• Working on the assembly line as a team
• Working with the hand scanner.
• Keeping production areas in compliance with sanitation standards and customer 
• Taking trolleys to cold storage/freezer. 
• Cleaning trolleys that come from the plane. Sorting dishes, cutlery and trash. 

Requirements:

• Willingness to work shifts (usually early and late, in some departments also night shifts). A work shift comprises a net of 8.03 working hours.
• Willingness to work weekends and on bank holidays. Usually you work 5 or 6 days a week and then you have 1 to 3 days off.
• Language skills: Besides Spanish it would be helpful if you can express yourself in English or in German
• Physical fitness. At most workplaces you stand while you work, and depending on which work station you are at, you might have to enter cold storage for a short period of time (5-10 minutes). 
• Handling pork, poultry, meat and fish products (apart from vegetables, drinks, fruits etcetera) may be part of the job, depending on the work station you are at.
• Soft skills: you are a team player, reliable / punctual, fast learner 

What we offer:

• Employment contract with Randstad based on the collective agreement BAP/DGB. 
• The work contract is based on 151,67 hours/month. Usually you will work more hours per month, all hours that you work are being paid.
• 14 € gross per hour. Usually our employees that work at Gate Gourmet earn between 2200 - 2500€ gross/month including bonus for work on sundays, bank holidays, night shift and overtime. You have to pay social security and income tax on this gross salary.  
• work contract for an undefined period of time
• Holiday entitlement: 25 paid days in the first year of employment
• After 6 up to 18 months, the work contract will be transferred to Gate Gourmet directly (if that is desired by both sides)
• You can use the cantine of Gate Gourmet, which has really fair prices and offers nice food
• Provision of accommodation in a two-bed room for a maximum of the first 3 months of employment.

Special requirement for working at an international airport:

• As you will be working in the security area of the airport you will need an absolute impeccable criminal record. For this official background check,  conducted by the airport security authorities, some documents will be needed from you. We can only offer you a work contract, when your criminal record is impeccable. If you have had any troubles with police you can not work at the airport.
• The background check, conducted by the official airport security authorities will take 8-12 weeks time. You can use this ‘waiting time’ to learn German through our German classes free of charge.
• We will offer you a contract with Randstad as soon as the security check is positive and we agreed for a starting date together.
