Job description
The Position
As a System Engineer in the PQA (Product Quality Assurance) group in R&D you are responsible for setting up and tracking system (hw/sw) test plans including Quality Assurance activities (review specifications on quality aspects, moderate risk assessments) within TEM Science program line of microscopes.
The System Engineer is hands-on (executes part of the testing on microsopes), and has an objective role in evaluating weaknesses within the system.
We offer a challenging technical environment in the fast growing nano technology world; within this environment the TEM Science program comprises innovation projects in high end life science and material science nano research, demanding not only ultimate image resolution but also in hw/sw configuration diversity, system stability, huge spread in applicational usage (virus research, cell biology, femto second resolved imaging, application of x-ray mapping techniques, etc etc.
Product Quality Assurance and Testing is a growing competence within FEI, offering opportunities for taking a share in competence development in our group.
Specific responsibilities are:
•Moderates Design for quality aspects from early phase design phase on (system review requirements, moderate risk assessments, chases warranty analysis).
•Write test plan, including planning estimations for system projects.
•Moderates the whole test specification and reporting trajectory, and is responsible for proper test documentation orderly test process.
•Supports the project lead in (detailed) integration and test planning, and reports overall test progress and quality status.
•Execute part of testing in his/her area of expertise.
•Builds up expertise (hands on) by working on the system, and develops application domain to support above mentioned responsibilities.
•Provides an independent and substantiated release advice and is the quality conscience of the Science program.
Uses for this input of manufacturing, service, marketing, application groups effectively and timely.
•Initiate and support product quality improvements on basis of ‘lessons learned’ within TEM Science program
•Is responsible for taking a share in professionalizing design for quality and testing in R&D Acht as a whole
Requirements & Skills
Position Requirements
The successful candidate will possess the following combination of education and experience:
•Technical Masters or Bachelors degree (e.g. Electronic Engineering, experimental Physics).
•Minimum of 4 years of relevant experience with testing of low volume complex multidisciplinary (hw/sw) systems.
•Experience in R&D environment with integration projects is a must.
•Preferred is experience in TEM microscopy or a subdomain.
•Experience with quality improvement.
