Experienced BI/Database Developer
MOVIESTARPLANET ApS
København, 1 stilling
Can you handle large data sets from 25 databases that keep 250 million kids playing globally? Would you like to bridge business and IT, keep our servers running and collaborate with lots of creative colleagues in a company that still has the entrepreneurial start-up spirit intact?
About the Job
As our new BI/DBA Developer, you will be part of the DevOps Team of 6. Here, your main responsibility is to maintain our BI systems and data warehouse as well as create reports for our Data Analysts. You collaborate closely with our experienced BI Developer and other colleagues in e.g. Game Designing, Marketing and Finance, and you mentor our programmers (who set up simple ETL). These tasks take up approximately 60 % of your time.
In the remaining approximately 40 %, you will be assigned DBA tasks or projects, for instance
•troubleshooting existing MSSQL by diagnosing performance related issues and assisting in performance tuning applications and systems that interact with MSSQL
•helping to write automation scripts that configure, install, upgrade, and patch DB servers
•mentoring our programmers on writing well performing SQL and designing good data models
•defining/documenting processes, best practices, and strategies for databases
•analysing emerging industry and database technology trends and evaluating and recommending DBA tools and new DBMS technologies/versions.
We are an informal organisation with no set processes. So with us, you get to shape the content of your job within its framework and take on more responsibility if you want. Also, we are in rapid growth and constantly changing, so if you need new tools or come up with smarter ways of working, we are ready to try your suggestions.
About You
You love understanding the challenges of your non-IT-colleagues and translating the challenges into solutions that meet their needs. Being extrovert and cooperative, you are comfortable not knowing what may happen in the course of your work day. You easily switch between tasks – when operations have issues and you need to leave your BI assignment, you always keep a cool head, colleagues informed and follow processes and procedures. Moreover, you
•have operational experiences with databases, preferable running large systems, e.g. from a large website
•are strong in understanding programming/scripting(coding) and great at SQL
•have knowledge of or experience with ETL, MS BI Tools, Tableau or other reporting tools
•speak and write English effortlessly, as many of your colleagues do not speak Danish
