Application Data Analyst
General Description
The Application Data Analyst is a Systems Analyst level IT Application Developer at UNUM. The individual will focus on acquiring and refining business knowledge, application development skills with a particular focus on the data related aspects across projects that form an individual release.
Principal duties and responsibilities
- Business knowledge focus is to demonstrate an in-depth working knowledge of Unum products, services, and business functions and processes supported by assigned programs and applications.
- Application knowledge supports competency to understand at the highest technical level in most phases of a project. Work is largely of data nature but a good understanding of distributed architecture and c# is necessary.
- Demonstrates a detailed working knowledge and experience with analysis and design relative to IT standards in particular data modeling with a good understanding of application design and business analysis.
- Communication skills include ability to effectively communicate complex and technical or business concepts to peers, management, and non-technical resources.
- Client interaction in support of Customer Service involves direct consultation with multiple client areas on prioritization and business planning. Is able to translate complex business requirements affecting multiple business areas and processes into effective technical solutions.
- Teamwork supported by assisting peers, project leaders, and management in areas of business and technical expertise. Demonstrates an effective working relationship with the management of business clients and business peers.
- Demonstrates leadership by taking on broad accountability beyond the standard activities. Set example of professional behavior and motivates others.
- Helps manager with staff leadership activities both to help relieve the manager, but also to grow formal leadership skills in support of People Management and Administration.
- Capable of playing project leader role on small to medium projects, with guidance from management
- Capable of playing technical lead role for small to medium projects, with guidance from management.
Day to Day activity
- Own lower environment database state
- Develop and assist other Application Developers with developing stored procedures
- Provide Developers with appropriate test data and mechanisms to reset test data sets
- Provide Developers with appropriate environment access to test
- Develop and maintain downstream (legacy) testing mechanisms
- Participate in Production data optimization
- Be single contact point with DBA
- Progress SCM/CI efforts
- Reach out to other groups within UNUM and participate in Enterprise initiatives
Qualifications & Skills
The ideal candidate will possess skills and experience in some or all of the following:
- 7+ years of experience
- Appropriate 3rd level qualification
- SQL Server Querying and Stored Procedures, T-SQL, SSIS, Performance Monitoring and Tuning Tools, Replication, caching, DDL, DML
- Data Quality and Profiling Tools, DB2 z/OS (Mainframe): SQL and Stored Procedures, Informatica Change Data Capture an advantage
- Object-oriented design and programming
