The National Food Institute at the Technical University of Denmark (DTU) invites applications for a position as Lead Data Analyst in the Research Group on Nutrition, Sustainability and Health Promotion. Data-driven research and robust analytics are crucial for providing evidence-based recommendations to government agencies, the scientific community, and the general public. This position supports researchers’ analysis of both internal and external data sources, ensuring timely and informed policy guidance.  

The job
Primary areas of responsibility are working at the intersection of data interpretation and insights, ensuring that research findings are supported by well-structured data analysis.  

Responsibilities

  • Develop statistical analysis plans with researchers and project managers
  • Develop standard code packages and training to allow researchers to conduct statistical analysis and identify trends within datasets.
  • Ensure data integrity and reproducibility, reducing redundant data wrangling efforts.
  • Develop reports and dashboards that summarize research findings.
  • Work closely with the Analytics Engineer to interpret and validate datasets for research use.
  • Work closely with other data analysts to assign tasks and determine when outside support (DTU Compute) is required
  • Work closely with the Data Manager to ensure that generated datasets are compliant with data standards (naming, storage, access, metadata, DMPs etc)
  • Advise researchers in R and Python for data analysis and modeling.

Salary and appointment terms
The appointment will be based on the collective agreement with the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations (AC), the OAO-S Joint Agreement and the organization agreement for IT employees (Prosa) in the service of the state, or another relevant agreement.

The position is a full-time position. Starting date is 1 July 2025 (or according to mutual agreement).

The workplace is DTU Lyngby Campus.

Required Experience

  • In developing R functions for reproducible statistical analysis
  • Professional or academic background in statistics, biostatistics, and/or epidemiology
  • Familiarity with the analysis of population-weighted cross-sectional survey data in R
  • In the design, implementation, and management of statistical data analysis plans
  • In a professional, collaborative research environment 

Preferred Experience

  • Real-world experience in developing R packages for reproducible statistical analysis
  • Professional or academic background in biostatistics, and/or nutritional epidemiology
  • In analyzing population-weighted cross-sectional survey data
  • In teaching statistical analysis in R
