As a Solar QA/QC Engineer, you will be responsible for ensuring that all construction and installation works on solar PV projects comply with quality standards, technical specifications, and applicable regulations. You will play a key role in establishing and enforcing QA/QC procedures, performing inspections, and supporting the commissioning process to ensure project success.
- Develop and implement project-specific QA/QC plans in accordance with contract requirements and ISO standards.
- Conduct on-site quality inspections of civil, mechanical, and electrical works including module mounting, cabling, trenching, inverter installation, and grid connection aspects.
- Ensure compliance with design drawings, technical specifications, method statements, and ITPs.
- Perform inspections and testing on materials and installations (e.g., PV modules, inverters, transformers, cable insulation resistance, string testing, torque settings).
- Maintain up-to-date documentation including test reports, NCRs, punch lists, as-built drawings, and quality logs.
- Identify and manage non-conformities and coordinate with relevant teams to implement corrective actions.
- Liaise with contractors, site managers, and client representatives to ensure all works meet quality standards.
- Support the commissioning and handover process with complete QA/QC documentation packages.
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Renewable Energy, or related field.
- Minimum 3 years’ QA/QC experience in solar PV or renewable energy projects; EPC experience preferred.
- Strong knowledge of Irish and EU construction standards, regulations, and best practices for solar projects.
- Familiar with IEC, EN, and ISO standards (especially ISO 9001).
- Proficient in MS Office and quality management systems (QMS); experience with SharePoint is an advantage.
- Excellent communication, reporting, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced construction environment.
- Valid Irish (EU) driver’s license and flexibility to travel to project sites.
