About the position
We are looking for a pipeline developer to join our development team. You will join an existing team of dedicated experts working on implementing the newest bio-pipelines used for human Whole Genome Sequencing (WGS) data processing. Your primary task will be maintenance, updating and developing tools for Quality Control (QC) of the data generated by the bio-pipelines, as well as communicating and evaluating the results. As such, your work and expertise will help guide the implementation of precision medicine at the national level.
Your main responsibility will revolve around design, development and implementation of back-end pipelines for processing sequencing data, in collaboration with the relevant internal and external stakeholders.
Professional qualifications
We are looking for a candidate with:
- a degree in Bioinformatics, Molecular Biology, Datalogy, Computer Science or a similar educational background
- familiarity with Python, Workflow language (fx WDL or Snakemake)
- familiarity Rstudio, Jupyter or other statistical data analysis tools
- familiarity with working with CentOS on a high-performance computing (HPC), using a PBS queueing system
- experience with collaborating effectively using the Git version control system
- knowledge of modern software development processes and project-based development
- experience with analysis of large amounts of sequencing data’
- proficiency in English.
It would be big pluses if you have:
- experience working with databases
- familiarity with Illumina sequencing technology
- understanding of wet-lab procedures leading up to sequencing
- experience with code review
- experience with test-driven development and CI/CD
- experience with deploying containerized software (fx Docker or Singularity)
- proficiency in Danish.

The position is situated at the sequencing facility located in MOMA, Palle Juul-Jensens Boulevard 99, 8200Aarhus N. You can expect 2-4 travel days a month to The Danish National Genome Center in Copenhagen.
About the employment
Depending on your educational background salary and appointment terms will be based on either:
- the collective agreement between the Danish Ministry of Finance and the Danish Federation of Professional Associations (AC) (Overenskomst for akademikere i staten). Depending on your academic qualifications and experience there is a possibility of being classified as a special or senior consultant according to appendix 4 (protocol concerning special- and senior consultants).

- the organizational agreement between The Danish Finance Ministry and the Organisation for Salaried Employees HK/Stat (Organisationsaftale for kontorfunktionærer, laboranter og it-medarbejdere (HK)), according to chapter 5 in the agreement and the collective agreement between The Danish Finance Ministry and the Organisation of Public Employees (OAO-S-Fællesoverenskomsten).
