Why ASML?
At ASML we make world leading high tech lithography machines for our chip making customers. These tailor made machines can image billions of structures in a few seconds with an accuracy of a few silicon atoms. To print microchips that are smaller, faster and more energy-efficient, the demands on these systems go beyond hardware. Software can bring our machines to the next level so software design for evolution is vital. That's where our Metrology Software Group comes in.
What is ASML Software Metrology?
The required accuracy level cannot be achieved by hardware and mechatronics solutions only. At system level, imperfections of the subsystems need to be measured and corrected. Think about component heating, optical aberrations, system vibrations and other physics effects that take place when acting in nanometer accuracy.
This is done by creating mathematical models describing the lithography machine behavior and its imperfections. These models are used to control the machine in such a manner that the inaccuracies are corrected.
The challenge
You will work in a team of about 30 engineers taking responsibility for a specific machine function. You are responsible for all software improvements and new features in your domain. You build software solutions / designs to control the imperfections. Typically you work in a team of about 10 engineers in an agile/scrum development process.

- Working in multidisciplinary engineering teams, cooperate with colleagues from Physics, Mechatronics, Mechanics, Mathematics, Electronics and other software departments.
- Highly academic environment, most of your colleagues have a Master and/or PhD education from top quality technical universities
- You will dive into 50 million lines of complex code

On Thursday the 19th of May 2016, ASML will host its first Software event. This event is an exciting full day program for skilled (young) software developers. The day consists of (guest) speakers, job interviews and talent exploration, with the intention to offer a contract after the event.
If you are selected, you will have two interviews in which your technical skills, personal ambitions, and match with ASML will be discussed. You will gain insight and guidelines for your career in world’s most challenging hi-tech environment.
