Early Stage Researcher (ESR) position for the development of dedicated calibration procedures for micro-parts

Description: CT metrology procedures tailored to micro-parts are yet non-existent as are tailored calibration objects. Due to manufacturing and calibration measurement limitations, the simple scaling of the objects developed by ESR 5 will be insufficient, hence other geometries will need to be investigated. You will benefit from close cooperation with ESR 5 in order to speed up this development. In addition, you will make use of simulations in order to investigate the influence of hardware limitations on metrology of micro-parts. Such hardware limitations include, amongst others, spot size and thermal drift. The results of these simulations will indicate future research and development needs for CT equipment for micro-parts. In addition, you will benefit from cooperation with LW (making micro-features using additive manufacturing) and with ESR 11 who will apply the developed methods in his/her research on integrated quality control of micro-injection moulded parts.

Secondments: During this project, you will do a secondment (of a few months) to UNIPD (Universita degli studi di Padova, Italy) and LayerWise (Belgium)

Duration: 36 months (enrolment in a PhD program at KU Leuven)
