About the organisation
Information about workers' rights
We supervise employers, inspect workplaces, and give advice for employees and employers on issues such as:
- salaries
- working hours
- employment contract
- annual holidays
- training period
- equality
- safety at work.
In Finland, most sectors have collective agreement. It defines the minimum conditions like pay and working hours. Check your employment contract to see which collective agreement applies to your work.
Read more about workers' rights in our guide, published in 18 languages: www.tyosuojelu.fi/work-in-finland.

When you work in Finland, you can contact us if you have problems at your workplace.
Self-employed or employee?
An increasing number of foreign-language speakers in Finland work as so-called light entrepreneurs. Unfortunately, not all of them are genuine entrepreneurs who can decide how, when and for whom they work and how much they charge for their work.
Are you really self-employed or should you be entitled to employees’ rights? See our leaflet, published in 10 languages: www.tyosuojelu.fi/self-employed.
