We are seeking a Quality Coordinator to join our dynamic team, based on a large-scale design and build project in Cork to assist the Senior Quality Coordinator. This technically demanding project offers the chance to work on diverse civil engineering and construction activities, including extensive earthworks, reinforced concrete (RC) structures, inground services and the construction of a large-scale steel portal frame building with associated cladding systems.

Project Scope

  • Earthworks: ~30,000 cubic meters of excavation, grading, and road preparation.
  • Concrete Works: ~10,000 cubic meters of in-situ RC for foundations, retaining walls, and structural RC frames.
  • Steel Structures: Large-scale steel portal frame construction with custom detailing, complex cladding systems, roller doors, and ancillary elements.
  • Cladding: Large scale cladding elements

Key Responsibilities

As the Quality Coordinator, you will:

Quality Management

  • Revise, implement, and maintain the Project Quality Plan (PQP) and associated procedures.
  • Promote a right first time approach. Monitor, support and ensure compliance with our standards, client and industry specifications, and legal requirements.
  • Conduct regular audits and inspections to ensure all works meet the required quality standards.
  • Assist with root cause analysis (RCA) and help implement corrective/preventative actions for quality-related issues.

Documentation & Reporting

  • Assist with the preparation and approval of Inspection Test Plans (ITPs), method statements, and relevant QA/QC documentation.
  • Ensure accurate recording of quality data, test results, and maintain comprehensive quality records for the project.
  • Assist with the production of detailed quality reports for project stakeholders, highlighting trends, risks, and opportunities for improvement.

Collaboration & Leadership

  • Assist the senior quality coordinator when liaising with clients, consultants, and subcontractors to ensure project alignment for all Quality associate items.
  • Provide guidance to the project team and subcontractors on quality requirements.
  • Participate in design and technical reviews, offering input to ensure buildability and maintainability align with quality goals.

Material and Construction Oversight

  • Assist the senior quality coordinator with testing and approval of materials used in earthworks, RC structures, and steel construction.
  • Conduct on-site reviews of works to ensure adherence to specifications, including dimensional checks, material quality, and finish.
Requisiti professionali

About You

Skills & Qualifications

Education & Certification:

  • Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related discipline is desirable, but not essential.
  • Professional membership (e.g. CQI Practitioner) is highly desirable.

Experience:

  • Minimum 1 + year of experience in a quality role within the civil engineering/construction sector.
  • Ideally have experience with large-scale design and build projects, particularly involving earthworks, RC, and steel structures.

Technical Knowledge:

  • Understanding of ISO 9001 standards and quality management systems.
  • Familiarity with geotechnical testing, concrete technology, and structural steel standards (e.g. EN 1090).
  • Proficiency in QA/QC tools, ITP preparation, and non-destructive testing (NDT) methods.

Skills:

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with an eye for detail.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to engage with diverse stakeholders.
  • Proficient in MS Office and quality management software tools.
