Haugesund Hospital has a permanent position available for an oncologist at the day care unit.

Haugesund is a city on the western coast of Norway and serves as a regional centre for approximately 110,000 inhabitants. Haugesund Hospital is a general hospital located in the city centre and is part of the teaching hospital network of the Western Norway Regional Health Authority. You will work in close collaboration with oncologists at Haugesund Hospital and Haukeland University Hospital (HUS).
Most patients treated in Haugesund have gastrointestinal or breast cancer. Patients with other cancer diagnoses are treated in collaboration with oncologists at HUS. The hospital is currently expanding, and there are plans to establish a dedicated oncology ward in 2027.
We are seeking an oncologist with an interest in professional development and teamwork. Doctors in their final year of specialist training are also encouraged to apply.
Work description
- Primarily daytime work
- Clinical duties include outpatient consultations, prescribing and administering chemotherapy, consultations for inpatients with oncology-related conditions (there is currently no dedicated oncology ward), as well as some administrative tasks
- Collaboration with the palliative care team
- The oncologist will play a key role in the further development of cancer services in Haugesund

- The applicant must have Norwegian medical council authorization as a doctor along with recognized specialization in oncology.
- The applicant must have relevant hospital work experience.
- Experience from palliative care is an advantage.
- If you do not currently speak Norwegian, you must be willing to learn the language and achieve minimum B2 level (written and spoken) prior to employment. The hospital can assist with language training.
