Director of Department of Population Health
Key Accountabilities
Define, implement and follow up the strategic research orientation of the DoPH in partnership with its group leaders. Develop her/his own vision related to patient and population based research.
Position the unique expertise of the DoPH research groups to further the translational research goals of LIH
Identify public health needs and propose research projects, studies and service activities to potential partners and sponsors, including ministry of health.
Secure external public and private grant support from national and European funding sources
Develop relations with international partners in order to promote the international positioning of the LIH and foster researchers’ exchanges.
Develop and supervise PhD students and teaching programs within DoPH and set up recruiting procedures with national and foreign universities with public health doctoral programs.
Develop competences of the different teams composing DoPH, identify talents and offer them development opportunities in line with the internal rules of the institution, supervise the performance evaluation of all human resources within DoPH.
Ensure that legal and ethical rules in the field of research, good practice and procedures within LIH are being adhered to.
Manage and develop the internal and external communication of DoPH in cooperation with LIH communication department.
Participate in the Management Board meetings, representing the needs and strategy of the DoPH.
Participate in committees or national groups in the field of epidemiology, public health, and other related disciplines
Key Skills, Experience and Qualifications
Doctor in epidemiology or public health with PhD degree, a medical background with specialization in Public Health Medicine would be an asset.
10 years of experience in epidemiology or public health or equivalent seniority in the domain.
10 years of experience in managing an epidemiology and public health structure or equivalent seniority in the domain.
Experience in national and European public health research projects.
Experience in scientific publications in the field of public health or epidemiology.
Strong and consistent track record of scientific publications as first, second or last author in scientific journals related to the field of Epidemiology and Public Health research.
Relational skills; organizational skills; management skills.
Active participation in international public health or epidemiology networks.
Experience in supervision of PhD students.
Perfect knowledge of spoken and written English; German and French would be an advantage
