Our Hiring Manager says:

“The Development Ops Administrator will set up new environments and be the systems administrator to support the development teams. This is a technical role and this person will be responsible for managing and administering the development toolset and configuration of the Realex Payments Gateway. You will drive deployment automation and continuous integration. On-the-job training will be provided in this role.”

What you will be doing:

  • Management of all non-production 'managed' environments
  • Configure of all Payment Gateway system components
  • Ensure all environments are as close to production as possible
  • Assist in rollout and troubleshooting of all environmental issues on application, database and operating system level
  • Increase overall department efficiency by removing distractions for development and QA teams
  • Be responsible for the continuous integration environment and champion a continuous delivery automation model
  • Work closely with IT Operations to ensure all platform configurations are maintained and brought to production as required
  • Develop a deep understanding of Realex Payments Gateway component systems
  • Support all projects in the Product Development teams
  • Ensure the environments in QA/pre-production and production are an exact match
  • Delivery of a standalone pre-production environment, independent from production
  • Any other responsibilities as required from time to time

What qualities you will bring:  

  • Previous Systems Administration experience
  • Good technical knowledge of Linux, VMWare, Perl/Bash scripting
  • Good understanding of application configuration and administration
  • Understanding of Java technology
  • Strong problem solving skills
  • Ability to organise and prioritise based on goals and milestones
  • Demonstrate energy, effort and enthusiasm for delivery and results
  • Willingness to help
  • Strong team player, willing to take direction from others and deliver a solution

It helps if you also are/have:

  • Knowledge of SQL
  • Configuration Knowledge of Jira, Confluence, Crucible, Stash, Eclipse
  • Good technical knowledge of development tools - SVN, Git, Jenkins, Sonar
  • Understanding of network architecture would be of benefit
  • Working experience with automation tools like chef and puppet
