The Eye Department at Haugesund Hospital currently has a vacant permanent position for a senior consultant ophthalmologist.
With us, you will join a well-organised specialist environment with short decision lines, a highly professional standard and colleagues who make you feel supported in your everyday work. The department currently has 5 senior consultant positions and 3 resident positions, and we work closely together with both primary care and private health care providers in the field og Opthalmology.
We have approximately 18.000 outpatient consultations per year and perform, among other things:
- eyelid surgery
- strabism surgery
- trabeculectomies and MIGS
- cataract surgery
- various lacrimal duct procedures
- intravitreal injections with anti-VEGF agents / Ozurdex
- laser treatment for a range of conditions
Haugesund Hospital is the largest hospital in Helse Fonna. Haugesund is a coastal town with a long history, and the region has around 180,000 inhabitants. Here you will find beautiful nature, several major cultural festivals and a varied business sector – especially within maritime industries, manufacturing and trade – as well as a university college environment and an international airport.

- The applicant must have Norwegian medical council authorization as a doctor along with recognized specialization in ophthalmology.
- The applicant must have relevant hospital work experience.
- If you do not currently speak Norwegian, you must be willing to learn the language and achieve minimum B2 level (written and spoken) prior to employment. The hospital can assist with language training.
- Structured and efficient.

- Good communication and collaboration skills.
- Salary by agreement in accordance with the current collective agreement with the Norwegian Medical Association (DNLF).
- For suitable candidates, there is the opportunity for training in cataract and glaucoma surgery.
