Helse Fonna HF comprises four hospitals in Haugesund, Stord, Odda, and Valen, as well as four district psychiatric centres (DPS). Haugesund Hospital is a general public hospital, located in the city of Haugesund. It is part of the teaching facility network of the Regional Health Authority of Western Norway. Our Department of Age-Related Medicine is organized as a separate unit within the medical clinic. It contains three small wards with eight beds each and outpatient service for geriatric internal medicine, Old Age Psychiatry / Geriatric Psychiatry, and short-term observation for general internal medicine. The unit is approved for 9 months in the specialization program for general psychiatrists. As an Old Age Psychiatrist or Geriatric Psychiatrist, you must have a holistic perspective, and you will work closely with other colleagues from other professions. We have our own Research Group for Age-Related Medicine.
We are looking for a psychiatrist who has interests in professional development and teamwork. Doctors in their final years of their specialization are encouraged to apply!

- The applicant must have Norwegian Medical Council authorization as a specialist in Psychiatry or be a resident in Psychiatry nearing completion of specialist training.
- An approved subspecialty in Old Age Psychiatry, or experience in Old Age Psychiatry, is desirable.
- The applicant must have relevant hospital work experience.
- If you do not currently speak Norwegian, you must be willing to learn the language and achieve minimum B2 level (written and spoken) prior to employment. The hospital can assist with language training.
- Positive and flexible attitude and good communication skills.
- A good sense of humor is appreciated.
- Good academic judgement and work in a structured, goal oriented way.
- Must show professional competence, trust and respect.
- Should have interest in professional development and contribute towards development of a good workforce
