Haugesund Hospital now has a full-time permanent position available for a Consultant Geriatrician / Specialist in Geriatric Medicine. Specialists in general or other internal medicine disciplines, or those specializing in Geriatric Medicine, are encouraged to apply.
Haugesund Hospital is a general hospital located in the city of Haugesund. It is part of the teaching facility network of the Regional Health Authority of Western Norway. The Department of Age-Related Medicine is organized as a unit of its own within the Medical Clinic. It contains three small wards with eight beds each and outpatient services for geriatric internal medicine, geriatric psychiatry, and short-term observation for general internal medicine. The unit is approved as a Group 2 physician educational training in geriatric medicine. As a geriatrician, you must have a holistic perspective and work closely with colleagues from other professions. We are looking for a geriatrician who has an interest in professional development and teamwork. Doctors in their final year of specialization can also apply.
We have established our own Research Group in Age-Related Medicine, and we are running both clinical drug trials, like the ANeED Study, and development of bio-fluid and digital biomarkers, with a particular focus on Dementia with Lewy Bodies. We encourage you to take part in our research projects as part of your clinical work.

- Norwegian specialist authorization as a Geriatrican
- Relevant hospital work experience.
- If you do not currently speak Norwegian, you must be willing to learn the language and achieve minimum B2 level (written and spoken) prior to employment. The hospital can assist with language training.
